Our 2017 LTIA National conference will be conducted in Arlington, VA, just fifteen minutes from the U.S. Congress buildings and the White House.
Travel information
To request LTIA staff assistance to travel from the Ronald Reagan (DCA) airport to the training facilities in Arlington, VA, please send your travel information to the LTIA travel assistant.
Flight plans
The most convenient airport to use is the Reagan National Airport (DCA). There is easy access to the Metro rail for traveling. The Baltimore and the Dulles airports will require that you arrange a ride to the metro or to the 4H conference center by Taxi or shuttle van about 45 minutes away. If you send us your flight schedule before June 1, we will arrange to have an LTIA staff meet you at the Reagan National Airport (DCA). LTIA staff cannot meet you at the Baltimore or Dulles Airports.
If you request being met by our staff at the DCA airport and arrive early or our staff is delayed in meeting you, go to the baggage claim area to collect your luggage. Our staff will meet you in the baggage claims area. If you fly into the Baltimore airport, you should travel by train (MARC) to the metrorail. Our staff will not be available to meet you in the Baltimore airport.
Housing plans and location
The Leadership Training Institute of America is conducting its national conference in Washington, D.C. at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center.
It is conveniently accessible from DC’s three major airports – BWI, DCA and IAD. Complimentary parking is available for cars and buses.
LTIA staff cannot meet you at the BWI or IAD airports. However, they will be available to meet you at the DCA.
Early birds
If you plan on arriving a day early on Friday, we recommend that you stay at a hotel near the 4H conference center. LTIA staff may not be available to assist early arrivals. Call Dr. Briney at 443-0510 before making arrangements for early housing.
Metrorail Information
You can learn more about the Metrorail system in Washington D.C., obtain a map, and order prepaid passes at their web site (http://www.wmata.com/fares/purchase/store/). Otherwise, obtain your passes at the Metro vendor machine. We will be using a single trip fare ($3.75) from DCA airport to conference center, and one $35 “7-Day Short Pass” card.
Taxi/shuttle information
Taxi service from the DCA airport to the LI building is about $8.00 for an individual or $5.00 per person in a group, plus a 10% tip. Sometimes, a hotel shuttle can be arranged through the hotel you are staying at.
